Looking for a plain-English deconstruction of the theory of anthropomorphic global warming or AGW? I have not found a better than this lecture series by Professor Bob Carter, author of Climate: the Counter-Consensus. Yes, actually, there is a counter-consensus on this oh-so-burning topic. Bob Carter is an Adjunct Professional Research Fellow at James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
One Senate Democrat came very close Thursday to getting it right on race. Showing near courage under fire, Virginia Democrat Jim Webb echoed Ronald Reagan at the Berlin Wall, calling on President Obama to end affirmative action:
President Obama, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the United States, if you seek liberalization and racial harmony, come here to this gate. Mr. Obama, open this gate. Mr. Obama, tear down the wall of affirmative action!
Well, not quite, but very close. In fact, Webb called on his “fellow politicians” to “end government-directed diversity programs” beyond what he terms “our continuing obligation to assist those African-Americans still in need.” While it could be written off as election-season posturing by Senate Dems, Webb’s call should be heard, heeded and exceeded. Is Barack Obama in a panic? What else could explain his sudden reversal in deciding to force Donald Berwick through full-dress Senate hearings 3 1/2 months before election day? The Stalinist depths of Donald Berwick’s mind must be seen to be appreciated, hence the video below. Here, however, is a teaser:
Any health care plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate.
Any idea why the stock market can’t get enthused? Why consumer confidence is lagging? Why Barack Obama nominated Donald Berwick?
At one time, the Department of Justice had the creature shown in the video in the bag — could have easily put him behind bars — and deliberately let him out. Just another tentacle of the Obama administration’s “Muslim outreach?” Or was there a legal justification? Paul Mirengoff makes the case at Powerline.
Anyone remember the name Willie Horton? Whatever the legal niceties, this Philly Hillbilly is infinitely worse. Wondering why I and others question whether Barack Obama is an American, look no further. What real American would accept a political endorsement by such flaming racists as the New Black Panthers? No matter what your American color or creed, these are aliens.
Meanwhile, in stark contrast to Philly’s New Black Panthers, the Department of Justice has decided to “review” the Oakland shooting case in which a white BART security officer was “only” convicted of involuntary manslaughter. If you’re white, no punishment is enough to remove the stain of slavery. If you’re black, no crime is bad enough to prosecute.
Speaking of politicizing science … Could it be the central mission of the entire Obama administration to help the Muslim world feel better about itself? Could Barack Obama Democrats be that stupid? Surely, this has been the “programmatic focus” of Eric Holder and Janet “Big Sis” Napolitano who just can’t bring themselves to say “Islamic Jihad” no matter how many bombs are set off on U.S. air lines. And there’s little question that the same foolishness was behind Hillary Clinton’s pile-on-Israel condemnation of Israel’s totally justified interdiction of the Gaza flotilla.
Against this backdrop, it should come as no surprise that Mr. Obama has hijacked NASA (see video below) for the same purpose in response to which, a truly hilarious column by Scott Ott.
Does “academic freedom” include the right to falsify data in government grant applications? One might think so, to hear Rachel Levinson Waldman, senior counsel for the American Association of University Professors. She (and 810 Virginia professors) have objected to Virginia Attorney General Ken Cucinelli’s civil investigative demand or “CID” (shown below) that the University of Virginia produce documents and communications relating to $485,000 in government funds it received on behalf of then UVA prof Michael Mann (of Climategate Hockey Stick fame) for the study of global warming theories.
Climate Gate has a new, frisky partner: Poodle Gate. Seems Al Gore’s political stock has declined so far even lowly city cops are willing to take a second look at his tail … er… trail. Gore’s newest inconvenient truth: Portland Police are finally investigating the “sex poodle” case. Seems that, ahem, Portland’s finest made some “procedural mistakes” in failing to investigate last year: [click to continue…]
Whistleblower J. Christian Adams (video interview below the jump) has ripped wide open the DOJ Civil Rights Division’s kimono with an explosive account of how the Division suddenly dropped its winning case in early 2009 against New Black Panther Party members. Readers may recall these cuddly creatures who hovered over a Philadelphia polling site brandishing night sticks and a flinging racial epithets on election day, November 2008. Lest we forget, the New Black Panther Party endorsed Barack Obama for President (see graphic, right) and Mr. Obama endorsed that endorsement by posting it on his campaign website. Faced with Tom Coburn’s simple question, “Does the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution give Congress the power to tell Americans what they must eat every day,” Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan was momentarily lost for words and then uttered one of the dumbest responses I’ve heard in a long time: “Sounds like a dumb law.” So far, so dumb. But then she made it worse, twisting and turning to find a way to explain how maybe, just maybe, the Commerce Clause might actually embody such a congressional power. Where a simple “Hell, No!” was in order, Kagan could not come up with it. I give her a double thumbs down for intellect, politics and understanding of the Constitution.
